"Perhaps Love" is a compendium of romantic poems composed by the author over many decades, intimately reflective of a serene storgic dying entity of "true self sacrificing love". It is written beautifully with a style so sublime, such that the interpretation is left open to the reader, depending on their individual context and frame of mind, which could range from lovers to best of friends. The style is rich and varies from sonnets to horatic and Pindaric odes dedicated to the lover and his beloved. "Perhaps Love" is an enjoyable read for anyone at any level. People with a passion for literary art can appreciate its full depth. The author is truly an enigmatic individual to many of us who intimately know him. He has a depth that is unfathomable to many and I consider myself truly privileged to know him as my father figure both personally and professionally.

Love is a little word with a universe of meanings and has engaged people’s interest throughout human history. The need to give and receive love lies deep within human nature. Philosophers, poets, theologians, sociologists, and scientists have all attempted to explain its exact origin, but is it an evolutionary adaptation, or a social construct? Walsh discusses that the nature of and need for love has biological origins. He draws upon Darwin’s sexual selection theory to define the perceptions of love by infants through the process of experience-dependent brain wiring. He observes that mother love makes a child capable of loving and that father love makes a child feel worthy of love. He appraises the origin and purpose of romantic love in his discussions on sexual reproduction by looking at chemical and neurological responses to love and the influence of love on one’s physical and mental health. With frequent quotes from literary masters like Shakespeare to orient one’s scientific and humanistic understanding of love, Walsh goes on to explore various styles of romantic love, including monogamy, promiscuity, bartering love, and betrayed love; the effects of a skewed sex ratio on dating and mating practices; and the age-old quest for a perfect society populated by perfect people obeying the biblical command to “love one another.”

The concept of the 'social Trinity', which posits three conscious subjects in God, radically revised the traditional Christian idea of the Creator. It promoted a view of God as a passionate, creative and responsive source of all being. Keith Ward argues that social Trinitarian thinking threatens the unity of God, however, and that this new view of God does not require a 'social' component. Expanding on the work of theologians such as Barth and Rahner, who insisted that there was only one mind of God, Ward offers a coherent, wholly monotheistic interpretation of the Trinity. Christ and the Cosmos analyses theistic belief in a scientific context, demonstrating the necessity of cosmology to theological thinking that is often overly myopic and anthropomorphic. This important volume will benefit those who seek to understand what the Trinity is, why it matters and how it fits into a scientific account of the universe.

I am writing to introduce you to For Pete's Sake, an 90,000-word story of an unexpected encounter that unfolds into unexpected love. You will meet Pete a few days after I did. As our relationship excitingly takes root, another love enters and creates an inspiring love triangle. I introduce them both to you with the sincerest of words, lifted and flowing from the unknown and newly found depths of my spirit. Get to know them both as they share the stage of my days and nights, opening and exposing what lies within the heart of my heart and the heart of my soul. This is not a "witness from the ashes" diary. It is a witness of beautiful truth and a "take your breath away" love that is in all of us and so very worth the journey, be it short or long. A witness to learning, waiting, loving, living, and dying and happily ever after. The gift of crafting these words comes from my dad, and as you read this book, you will learn more about me and the divine intervention that has blessedly nudged me to pursue publication. I look forward to your feedback and input on making this shareable and memorable to all the hearts that turn these pages.

In Afterlives of Affect Matthew C. Watson considers the life and work of artist and Mayanist scholar Linda Schele (1942–98) as a point of departure for what he calls an excitable anthropology. As part of a small collective of scholars who devised the first compelling arguments that Maya hieroglyphs were a fully grammatical writing system, Schele popularized the decipherment of hieroglyphs by developing narratives of Maya politics and religion in popular books and public workshops. In this experimental, person-centered ethnography, Watson shows how Schele’s sense of joyous discovery and affective engagement with research led her to traverse and disrupt borders between religion, science, art, life, death, and history. While acknowledging critiques of Schele’s work and the idea of discovery more generally, Watson contends that affect and wonder should lie at the heart of any reflexive anthropology. With this singular examination of Schele and the community she built around herself and her work, Watson furthers debates on more-than-human worlds, spiritualism, modernity, science studies, affect theory, and the social conditions of knowledge production.
