A computer program for analysis of jointed concrete pavement is presented. The program, denoted as JSLAB, can analyze concrete pavement sections consisting of up to nine slabs. The primary objective for developing program JSLAB was to evaluate behavior of joints and load transfer devices. It can be used to evaluate the effect of joints with non-uniformly spaced load transfer devices. However, the applicability of the program is broad and the program may be used as a basis for or to verify concrete pavement designs.

This report describes the behavior of jointed concrete pavement based on field performance and current analysis and design technology. Distress data from a rigid pavement database and existing analysis programs developed at the Center for Transportation Research at The University of Texas at Austin served as the basis for the analytical procedure. Since environmentally induced cracking in jointed concrete pavement is of considerable importance to the performance of the pavement during its service life, we developed an analysis program, termed JRCP-6, that is capable of modeling the mechanisms that lead to cracking. Special attention is given to modeling behavior of the pavement after cracking has occurred.
