The education system of the Islamic World needs almost a thorough change. It is because the education-contents and machineries are still infested with foreign thoughts and elements. Plagyarism and piracy to confuse the Muslim Ummah have also been getting upper hand in it slowly and cunningly. Also a studied glance over present education centent and system of world as a whole now horribly exhibits that ‘Education’ instead of becoming back-bone of a nation has been assuming the appearance of ‘Death-Penalty’ on Man on the Universe. However, it is sure that the Third World Conference of Muslim Education would have a profound bearing upon the on-going system of education in Muslim countries provided its recommendations especially on Curriculum get fair play and sincere opportunity for implementation by the unhypocritic Muslim Governments having profound faith in Almighty Allah’s grace, help and bliss. Also it is fairly believed that the book will surely add some new dimensions to the scholars and educationists’ thought for exploring more substantial Islamic visions and values to be instituted to the practical field of Islamic education and research with more accuracy, skill and objectivity. Specially three articles (excluding the rest eight articles written by me, the author) on “Muslim Women’s Education,” “Co-education movement, An interview report by the author and The growth and flourishment of the present reformation in Muslim world’s Education” have been included to make the judicious readers and reformers think and do what changes are to be brought to the existing world-education for better future of the progeny. This book is an introduction to Islamic Philosophy, beginning with its Medieval inception, right through to its more contemporary incarnations. Using the language and conceptual apparatus of contemporary Anglo-American ‘Analytic’ philosophy, this book represents a novel and creative attempt to rejuvenate Islamic Philosophy for a modern audience. The central canonical figures of Medieval Islamic Philosophy – al-Kindi, al-Farabi, Avicenna, al-Ghazali, Averroes – are presented chronologically along with an introduction to the central themes of Islamic theology and the Greek philosophical tradition they inherited. Concern for achieving Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015 has led to a focus on the role that non-state providers (NSPs) can offer in extending access and improving quality of basic services. While NSPs can help to fill a gap in provision to those excluded from state provision, recent growth in both for-profit and not-for-profit providers in developing countries has sometimes resulted in fragmentation of service delivery. To address this, attention is increasingly given in the education sector to developing ‘partnerships’ between governments and NSPs. Partnerships are further driven by the expectation that the state has the moral, social, and legal responsibility for overall education service delivery and so should play a role in facilitating and regulating NSPs. Even where the ultimate aim of both non-state providers and the state is to provide education of acceptable quality to all children, this book provides evidence from diverse contexts across Africa, South Asia, and Latin America to highlight the challenges in them partnering to achieve this. This book analyses how independent filmmakers from Bangladesh have represented national identity in their films. The focus of this book is on independent and art house filmmakers and how cinema plays a vital role in constructing national and cultural identity. The authors examine post-2000 films which predominantly deal with issues of national identity and demonstrate how they tackle questions of national identity. Bangladesh is seemingly a homogenous country consisting 98% of Bengali and 90% of Muslim. This majority group has two dominant identities – Bengaliness (the ethno-linguistic identity) and Muslimness (the religious identity). Bengaliness is perceived as secular-modern whereas Muslimness is perceived as traditional and conservative. However, Bangladeshi independent and art house filmmakers portray the nationhood of the country with an enthusiasm and liveliness that exceeds these two categories. In addition to these categories, the authors add two more dimensions to the approach to discuss identity: Popular Religion and Transformation. The study argues that these identity categories are represented in the films, and that they both reproduce and challenge dominant discourses of nationalism. Providing a new addition to the discourse of contemporary national identity, the book will be of interest to researchers studying international film and media studies, independent cinema studies, Asian cinema, and South Asian culture, politics, and identity politics.
