What if the Chinese Treasure Fleet continued on..? What if Colonialism was 'kept in check'? What if Social Communalism becomes the predominant belief system on a different Earth? What if the United Nations was run and supported by Asian Powers? Nearly a thousand years after the Chinese Treasure Fleet first sailed across the globe, continuing to spread Asian culture and influence through trade instead of conquest - a new seed of conflict is discovered on the Jupiter moon of Ganymede. An unprovoked attack on a mining facility jointly developed through an uneasy alliance between the United Nations of Earth (UNE) and the Mars Administrative Corporation (MAC), raises suspicions from both factions. Has the clash of ideologies between Asian-influenced Earth and Western-driven Mars reached a tipping point? In an attempt to diffuse the situation while identifying the attackers and their motives, Captain Olivia Chu and her crew of the UNE Starship Tigris, accompanied by an attachment of the elite Malayan Rangers, sneak their way through Martian defenses to investigate. What they discover, is something different entirely, having a bearing over the evolution and continued survival of humanity as a whole. Only that they have not come to realize it… yet. “Marooned” is the first book in the “First Contact” story arc from the Unity Macroverse. Explore key characters as well as numerous locations across the Solar System including sprawling independent settlements throughout the asteroid belt. As the future hangs in limbo, differences must firstly be set aside - as unity is ultimately paramount.

The story from the alternate future continues …. Clandestine events on Earth unfold in the not-too-distant past. Dissatisfaction with The System had resulted in a group of disgruntled specialists successfully executing a well-planned exodus to resettle off-world, joining and furthering the cause of a hidden and more technologically advanced community of “independents” only referred to as the “Traders” by those very, very few in the know. Back in the moment, picking up from where Book Two, “Journey’s End” left off - The War erupts on a System-wide scale, with massive Fighting Vessels from both sides joining in Battle. Taking an early hit, the UNE scrambles to recover to prevent further crushing defeat. An early MAC win has galvanized the faction’s confidence for a crushing victory over the UNE… but will over-confidence creep in? Meanwhile, the Malayan Rangers are engulfed in a large Ground Action on Hygeia, being far larger than they had anticipated. The success of their mission to rescue the package and deliver it safely is no longer guaranteed, with the Hygeia Action becoming another key focal point in the newly ignited War. While the Tigris continues to “fly blind” as a result of its prior encounter, tensions among the crew begin to surface, as key members become intrinsically linked from exposure to the Sentinel. The unveiling of the on-going mystery of the Sentinel proceeds on Lunar, with different players from within the UNE arriving to play their part. Past grudges and with former colleagues may need to be cast aside to progress forward, as it is evident - that whatever the outcome, it will have a significant impact on the other seemingly disparate stories currently unfolding. War between civilizations rage on. New allies are discovered, and partnerships are forged. Other players appear from the shadows. The Sentinel is more out of reach than anyone had anticipated. The future of Humanity remains unclear.

In this first book of a trilogy, see an Earth-like planet and its population shaped by I AM (God) to perform a special task. I AM, An Alternate Saga of Biblical Proportions takes readers to a world where some very bad things happen, as a determined I AM shapes mankind into the most ruthless of warriors. Who better than Humans to wage war upon the Empire of Satan? Meet the players: Clan MacLee who rebuilds their community after a devastating flood; the evil Order of Ra who control the world by shaping its leaders with drugs and debauchery; and the Sisters of the Khan, whose ancient sorority dictates all large-scale farming. The primary sport is long-boat rowing, which develops the huge powerful shoulders needed to perform I AM's task. It also ties up a large portion of the world's economy in wagering on races. The tale is an oral history being recited four thousand years into the future. The students hearing it are Cactus Monkeys, one of the original sentient species inhabiting this planet. Be aware of this novel's violence, sensuality, and religious controversy. About the Author: Galen H. Mullis is a native New Mexican, Navy veteran, thespian, avid balloonist, and Jack of all trades. "Lying in the hospital trying to survive a major heart attack, I was granted a vision of this wondrous story. I sat in amazement as words flowed from my fingertips. This story was truly inspired by something beyond my humble understanding of the universe." Publisher's website: http: //sbpra.com/galenhmullis

A collection of papers discussing Los Angeles’s role in avant-garde, experimental, and minority filmmaking. Alternative Projections: Experimental Film in Los Angeles, 1945-1980 is a groundbreaking anthology that features papers from a conference and series of film screenings on postwar avant-garde filmmaking in Los Angeles sponsored by Filmforum, the Getty Foundation, and the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, together with newly-commissioned essays, an account of the screening series, reprints of historical documents by and about experimental filmmakers in the region, and other rare photographs and ephemera. The resulting diverse and multi-voiced collection is of great importance, not simply for its relevance to Los Angeles, but also for its general discoveries and projections about alternative cinemas. “Alternative Projections provides a useful corollary and often a corrective to what has become a somewhat unilateral approach to experimental cinema in the period taken up here.” —Millennium Film Journal “[T]here are enough examples of ingenuity and achievement contained in this volume to unite a new generation of independent artists, exhibitors, and audiences in maintaining a viable outlet for cinematic creativity in Los Angeles.” —Los Angeles Review of Books

This work is a fascinating history of precontact North America, presenting the facts and engaging the reader by using alternative history—what if key facts were different?—to help develop critical thinking skills. The first title in ABC-CLIO's groundbreaking series Turning Points—Actual and Alternate Histories delves into the history of North America before European contact. There is much classroom literature on Native Americans after first contact; there is little on the history before. This work fills that gap, detailing the thousands of years before Europeans arrived. Climate changes, major battles, technology, and settlement patterns—all played a part in shaping the pre-Columbian history of North America. This book takes eight key points in history, presents the facts as they happened, and examines what might have happened if there were different outcomes. Small changes can produce vastly different results; this book shows how, and engages students' critical thinking skills while teaching them basic history.

Between 1887 and 1927, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote sixty Sherlock Holmes stories, and his great Canon has become the most praised, most studied, and best-known chapter in the history of detective fiction. Over twenty thousand publications pertaining to the Sherlock Holmes phenomenon are known to have been published, most of them historical and critical studies. In addition, however, almost since the first stories appeared, such was their uniqueness and extraordinary attraction that other authors began writing stories based on or derived from them. A new genre had appeared: pastiches; parodies; burlesques; and stories that attempted to copy or rival the great detective himself. As the field widened, there was hardly a year in the twentieth century in which new short stories or novels did not appear. Many hundreds are now known to have been published, some of them written by authors well-known for their work in other literary fields. The non-canonical Sherlock Holmes literature not only constitutes a literary field of considerable historical interest, but includes many stories that are both enjoyable and fascinating in their own right. Although a large bibliography on these stories exists, and a few limited anthologies have been published, no attempt has previously been made to collect them all and discuss them comprehensively. The Alternative Sherlock Holmes does so: it provides a new and valuable approach to the Sherlock Holmes literature, as well as making available many works that have for years remained forgotten. Presented as an entertaining narrative, of interest to both the aficionado and the scholar, it provides full bibliographic data on virtually all the known stories in the field.
