Few people know that the first ever self-help book was written thousands of years ago by Aristotle. Fewer people have attempted to read Aristotle, and even fewer people have acted on this timeless wisdom. Many attempts have been made to revive this wisdom, and most have failed. The Ethos is an attempt to once again bring virtue and complete happiness to the forefront of our culture and collective consciousness. Unlike Aquinas, I do not try to merge Aristotle into any religion. The Ethos is secular and universal. What makes this text more powerful than any other is its purity. This is Aristotle as it is; summarized and reorganized to be as short, usable and readable as possible for the modern audience, while still preserving the essence of this ancient and timeless wisdom. The Ethos could be considered the first ever secular bible. This text has already survived more than two thousand years, but it has never earned the fame and esteem it deserves. The Ethos begins by showing our primary function as human beings, and the best way to fulfill that function. The secret to fulfilling our purpose in life is not found by following arbitrary rules, but by creating value for ourselves and others.
