This report addresses the problems associated with the derivation of aircraft performance characteristics. The emphasis is on segments which are a part of a mission profile. In particular, the following areas are studied; takeoff, climb, cruise, descent and glide, turning, and landing. The generalized approach to performance estimates is first presented. Next, appropriate solutions are derived. Last sensitivity relationships are developed. The relationships determine changes in the performance characteristics as a result of an aircraft configuration change. This permits rapid evaluation of the performance variations for any segment of a mission profile. Additional keywords: Endurance; Acceleration; and Trajectory.
