Aprovechando que el 22 de marzo es el Día Mundial del Agua, dedicamos dos programas al análisis de las condiciones de este vital líquido en entornos urbanos. El tema del agua es delicado y fundamental porque podríamos vivir sin muchas de las cosas que creemos necesarias en el mundo globalizado, pero no podríamos vivir sin este preciado recurso natural. En compañía de la Dra. Alicia Torres Rodríguez, especialista en el abastecimiento y contaminación del agua en la región de la cuenca del río Santiago; y de la Dra. Sofía Mendoza Bohne, experta en la Historia de la cultura del uso del agua en nuestra ciudad, trataremos de dar un panorama general de nuestra situación actual en torno a la relación con el agua. Al parecer, nuestra situación en el mundo - y nuestro país no es la excepción- parece contradictoria, ante una alta demanda de agua, se nos presenta escases y abundancia a la vez: inundaciones en algunas regiones y otras que no cuentan con lo suficiente de este recurso como para abastecer a toda su población. A través de un breve repaso por la historia de nuestra ciudad, para contextualizar cuál ha sido la lucha por el agua desde su fundación, abrimos la discusión con dos preguntas fundamentales ¿Cuál es el panorama del problema en el mundo urbano? Y ¿Cuál es y cuál debería ser la relación entre ríos y ciudades?Para luego ir desgajando el tema: ¿A costa de quienes contamos con el suministro de agua potable en nuestra ciudad? ¿Ésta agua, resulta de confianza para el consumo humano directo? ¿La privatización del agua es una amenaza o una realidad? ¿Qué pasa con la calidad del agua para consumo directo de las distintas embotelladoras, desde las más baratas de pequeños establecimientos hasta la de grandes transnacionales?

This publication provides an overview of the common and unique sustainability elements of Indigenous Peoples' food systems, in terms of natural resource management, access to the market, diet diversity, indigenous peoples’ governance systems, and links to traditional knowledge and indigenous languages. While enhancing the learning on Indigenous Peoples food systems, it will raise awareness on the need to enhance the protection of Indigenous Peoples' food systems as a source of livelihood for the 476 million indigenous inhabitants in the world, while contributing to the Zero Hunger Goal. In addition, the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition (2016-2025) and the UN Food Systems Summit call on the enhancement of sustainable food systems and on the importance of diversifying diets with nutritious foods, while broadening the existing food base and preserving biodiversity. This is a feature characteristic of Indigenous Peoples' food systems since hundreds of years, which can provide answers to the current debate on sustainable food systems and resilience.
