While more conventional art can be tucked neatly away on gallery walls, houses have a much larger footprint. And when a home outlives its most basic function of providing shelter, a decision has to be made as to whether it is ultimately worth saving. Modernist homes like those designed by Paul Rudolph face an additional challenge as products of a stark, concrete-laden brutalist style now seen by many to be cold and uninviting. Photographer Chris Mottalini visited three abandoned Rudolph homes awaiting demolition. His photos present these onetime symbols of opulence and power at their most vulnerable and defeated. Rich, full-color photos show sunlight playing across shattered windows, dusty stairs, and ruined living rooms, presenting a view of modernism that few have seen before. The photos speak to the ephemeral nature of contemporary taste, and its uneasy relationship with history, as well as the consequences of modernism on our visual lexicon. And in a final coda, the pictures themselves serve to preserve these masterpieces long after time and tastes move on.

"You're lucky, being a girl. You can always get au pair work. Or a job in a Polish bakery - apparently they're springing up all over London". Marta grits her teeth and nods. She is used to this now: the assumption that she has come to England to abandon her career and make a fortune changing nappies and cleaning floors. It couldn't be further from the truth. Poles Apart tells the story of an ambitious young graduate from the outskirts of Warsaw who moves to London in search of fresh challenges and the opportunity to make a name for herself. But it's harder than she had anticipated. Her qualifications are unpronounceable - let alone recognisable - and the workplace isn't the only area riddled with prejudice. Marta's new set of 'friends' are quick to turn their backs on the newcomer, as are the men in her life - of which there are many. Based on a true story, Poles Apart is an insightful, funny, cynical look at London life through the eyes of a young migrant. It is a book for anyone who has ever encountered preconceptions or prejudice.

Within our flesh, we have deficiencies that could potentially place our comfortable lives in precarious situations. When faced with challenges that appeal to our flesh, should we fight to overcome our sinful desires or find excuses to give way to our weaknesses? When It All Falls Apart is an entertaining story that exposes the myth that Christians are perfect people and immune to worldly conflict. This drama-filled novel echoes the notion that one bad decision could cost you everything. The Fletchers are a loving middle-class family in Houston, Texas. Michael Fletcher is a wonderful husband and father. His godly lifestyle is an inspiration to all that encounters him, as his career is thriving as a successful music producer. Likewise, Jasmine Fletcher also loves God and is successful in her own right. She is a brilliant engineer and possesses a very competitive drive. Together, not only does this couple thrive outside of the home, but they seem to have a courtship rarely experienced in marriages. Nevertheless, their love for each other and spiritual convictions will soon be challenged. Will Jasmine overcome obstacles that could alter her way of life? Will Michael allow his flesh to dictate his actions and go left, or will he stay true to form and do what's right? When It All Falls Apart will cause you to laugh, cry, and love, as it examines relationships and spiritual battles within.
