Shes invited to Michaels home where he lives with his husband, Stuart Shaw, a restaurant manager. Kate feels a bit uncomfortable, and this turns to shock when she discovers naked pictures of Joey on Stuarts phone. Thinking her son is in danger from a pedophile stepfather, she and her husband, Larry, sue for custody of Joey. For Stuart, the possible loss of his stepson culminates a lifetime of victimization by homophobes, whether it be his mother, classmate, employer, the average man in a bar letting loose after a hard days work, or the judge who decides his familys fate. Michael and Stuart must discover who took the pictures in order to prove Stuart didnt do anything to endanger his stepson and to regain custody of Joey. Stuart refuses to be a victim and demands to be heard, but that could change his destiny. A novel of legal intrigue, Adam and Steve explores the timely subjects of child custody, prejudice against homosexuality, and gay marriage laws as Michael and Stuart face a difficult struggle to maintain their family.

In 2015, marriage equality became legal all over the United States. Even the top three major American team sports accept out players. Despite these milestones, teenage bullying resulting in deaths because of suicide is being documented throughout the USA. Did these teenagers die in vain? Is that attraction a lifestyle or a real authentic life? Adam and Steve: The Rules for Men Who Are Attracted to Other Men is written as an easy-to-read, smart, sexy, and provocative road map about same-sex attraction along with this authors findings that this is a real culture. Primarily, this book will speak to three different audiences. One is a teen or preteen male attracted to the same sex who may be discovering his own sexuality or is being bullied because of it. The other is the adult male who may understand his sexuality but not his obligation to others who come behind him. The third group is the parent or family member who just wants to be supportive.

What is it about “the homosexual” that incites vitriolic rhetoric and violence around the world? How and why do some people hate queers? Does homophobia operate differently across social, political, and economic terrains? What are the ambivalences in homophobic discourses that can be exploited to undermine its hegemonic privilege? This volume addresses these questions through critical interrogations of sites where homophobic discourses are produced. It provides innovative analytical insights that expose the complex and intersecting cultural, political, and economic forces contributing to the development of new forms of homophobia. And it is a call to action for anthropologists and other social scientists to examine more carefully the politics, histories, and contexts of places and people who profess hatred for queerness. The contributors to this volume open up the scope of inquiry into processes of homophobia, moving the analysis of a particular form of “hate” into new, wider sociocultural and political fields. The ongoing production of homophobic discourses is carefully analyzed in diverse sites including New York City, Australia, the Caribbean, Greece, India, and Indonesia, as well as American Christian churches, in order to uncover the complex operational processes of homophobias and their intimate relationships to nationalism, sexism, racism, class, and colonialism. The contributors also critically inquire into the limitations of the term homophobia and interrogate its utility as a cross-cultural designation. Contributors. Inside Apple reveals the secret systems, tactics and leadership strategies that allowed Steve Jobs and his company to churn out hit after hit and inspire a cult-like following for its products. If Apple is Silicon Valley's answer to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, then author Adam Lashinsky provides readers with a golden ticket to step inside. In this primer on leadership and innovation, the author will introduce readers to concepts like the "DRI" (Apple's practice of assigning a Directly Responsible Individual to every task) and the Top 100 (an annual ritual in which 100 up-and-coming executives are tapped a la Skull & Bones for a secret retreat with company founder Steve Jobs). Based on numerous interviews, the book offers exclusive new information about how Apple innovates, deals with its suppliers and is handling the transition into the Post Jobs Era. Lashinsky, a Senior Editor at Large for Fortune, knows the subject cold: In a 2008 cover story for the magazine entitled The Genius Behind Steve: Could Operations Whiz Tim Cook Run The Company Someday he predicted that Tim Cook, then an unknown, would eventually succeed Steve Jobs as CEO. While Inside Apple is ostensibly a deep dive into one, unique company (and its ecosystem of suppliers, investors, employees and competitors), the lessons about Jobs, leadership, product design and marketing are universal. They should appeal to anyone hoping to bring some of that Apple magic to their own company, career, or creative endeavor.

Adam and Steve met in the 1980s, a time of big hair and bad drugs. Their initial encounter didn't go well, so it's just as well they don't remember. But now they meet again, both a little older although not much smarter-and with a lot more baggage. "Adam and Steve" follows the trajectory of a relationship that started like a joke and just kept getting funnier. With the help of their friends, formerly obese stand-up comic Rhonda and straight-guy ladies man Michael, Adam and Steve struggle to make love work in the face of almost overwhelming obstacles, including a dog with an eating disorder, accident-prone parents, roving homophobes and the nagging feeling they've met before. Actor Craig Chester has adapted his own screenplay for the new film of the same name. Opening in spring 2005 around the country, the film stars Chester, Malcolm Gets, Parker Posey and Chris Kattan. Craig Chester is an actor ("Swoon," "Kiss Me Guido," "Frisk," "I Shot Andy Warhol") and author ("Why the Long Face?"). He lives in New York City.

A passionate argument for LGBTQ equality within religious communities—“a book for our times and a book for the ages” (EDGE) The myth that the Bible forbids homosexuality—the myth of “God versus Gay”—is behind some of the most divisive and painful conflicts of our day. In this provocative and game-changing book, scholar and activist Jay Michaelson shows that the Bible does not prohibit same-sex intimacy but does quite the opposite. In fact, the vast majority of the Bible’s teachings support the full equality and dignity of LGBTQ people, from the first flaw it finds in creation (“It is not good for a person to be alone”) to the way religious communities grow through reflection and conscience. Michaelson argues passionately for equality—not despite religion, but because of it. With close readings of the Hebrew Bible and New Testament, the latest data on the science of sexual orientation, and a sympathetic, accessible, and ecumenical approach to religious faith, Michaelson makes the case that sexual diversity is part of the beauty of nature. The recognition of same-sex families will strengthen, not threaten, the values religious people hold dear. Whatever your views on religion and sexual diversity, God vs. Gay is a plea for a more compassionate, informed conversation—and a first step toward creating one.

Adam Richman has met his fair share of foodie challenges as the host of the Travel Channel's most popular shows, Man v. Food and Best Sandwich in America, and sampling everything from unbearably spicy chicken wings to monstrously huge stromboli. So what does he serve up when he's behind the stove? These 150 recipes are the perfect blend of Adam's experiences--featuring homemade versions of his favorite road treats (adapting a signature Philly sandwich into dumplings, or giving an Italian spin to the Twin Cities classic Juicy Lucy burger) as well as totally original recipes to punch up your everyday meals. (Just try his chocolate mole pudding with toasted pumpkin seeds, or his poutine made with sweet potato fries, maple-glazed pork belly, and fresh burrata.) He brings in a few family favorites as well (a wild mushroom tart sprinkled with crunchy panko, or his mom's spinach pie), and shares the stories that inspired these meals in his warm, hilarious voice. Adam shows you how to pull out the stops at the dinner table and serve up delicious dishes every time without hitting the road.
