Some people are of the school of thought that destiny is the purpose or end to which any person or thing is appointed. I see destiny as what you are created to be and do on earth. Whatsoever God does, there is a definite purpose, and He does not embark on elephant projects. Whatever He starts, He also ensures its finishing state. He had a purpose for creating the heavens and the earth. The circumstances that confronted the creation did not stop Him from accomplishing His purpose. God started and finished. The Lord Jesus was on a mission to redeem humanity from eternal condemnation. While in the process of fulfilling the mission, there were serious confrontations. At the peak of his ministry on earth, he declared, “It is finished!”He embarked on the journey of destiny and eventually satisfied the purpose of heaven. On the other hand, Apostle Paul understood destiny, answered the call, diligently walked with his Maker, and before he left the earth, he boldly stated:“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge will give to me on that day, and not to me only, but also to all who love his appearing” (2Tim.4:7-8). Release: 2016-06-16

ISBN: 1137599200

This interdisciplinary analysis presents an innovative examination of the nature of pride and humility, including all their slippery nuances and points of connection. By combining insights from visual art, literature, philosophy, religious studies, and psychology, this volume adapts a complementary rather than an oppositional approach to examine how pride and humility reinforce and inform one another. This method produces a robust, substantial, and meaningful description of these important concepts. The analysis takes into account key elements of pride and humility, including self-esteem and self-confidence, human interconnectedness, power’s function and limitations, and the role of fear. Shawn R. Tucker explores the many inflections of these terms, inflections that cast them by turns as positive or negative, emboldening or discouraging, and salubrious or vicious depending upon the context and manner in which they are used.

Lifemaking offers a fresh frame for analyzing contemporary African politics and imagining its future. Rooted in the indigenous political philosophy of lifemaking of the Kalabari-Ijo people of the Niger Delta, this work is a counterpoint to the necropolitics that dominates African political practice. For practitioners and analysts for whom Africans and their polities are caught in the TINA (There Is No Alternative) syndrome, this book offers inspiration for an alternative to the current necropolitics. Because the book's thesis is an unreserved celebration of lifemaking, it identifies collective human flourishing as essential to politics.

Release: 2004-10-19
Genre: Philosophy
ISBN: 0253216923

In Reading Hegel's Phenomenology, John Russon uses the theme of reading to clarify the methods, premises, evidence, reasoning, and conclusions developed in Hegel's seminal text. Russon's approach facilitates comparing major sections and movements of the text, and demonstrates that each section of Phenomenology of Spirit stands independently in its focus on the themes of human experience. Along the way, Russon considers the rich relevance of Hegel's philosophy to understanding other key Western philosophers, such as Aristotle, Descartes, Kant, Husserl, Heidegger, and Derrida. Major themes include language, embodiment, desire, conscience, forgiveness, skepticism, law, ritual, multiculturalism, existentialism, deconstruction, and absolute knowing. An important companion to contemporary Hegel studies, this book will be of interest to all students of Hegel's philosophy.

The subject of destiny is yet to be fully comprehended by most people. This explains why some people still consult fetish prophets, palm readers, soothsayers and fortune tellers to know their future or have their destinies explained. Others, on the other hand, simply run their lives by trial and error, hoping that things will work out somehow. If you want to fulfill your divine destiny, you must first realize that you have a destiny. You will never fulfill what you dont know you have. From the illustration above, God has a plan and purpose for every Christian. Each of us has the personal responsibility to discover and fulfill that special plan and purpose.
