"On the two rolls of this microfilm publication are reproduced the case files for the act of 1800 bankruptcy cases of the U. S. District Court for the District of Maryland, 1800-1803. The judge of the district court during this time was James Winchester. ... The State of Maryland constituted one of the 13 judicial districts established under the Judiciary Act of 1789. The district court began holding sessions at Baltimore and Easton. In 1802 (2 Stat. 158) the district court was authorized by the Congress to meet only at Baltimore." -- p. 1.
