The Tubb/Tubbs families originally came from England to Massachusetts, Maryland, Barbados and elsewhere in the United States. William Tubbs of Duxbury, Massachusetts, was the first known Tubbs in America. He arrived at Plymouth in 1635 and went to Duxbury and settled there. He came from Sutton, Isle of Ely, Cambridge, England. He married (1) 1637 Mercy Sprague, daughter of Francis Sprague. They were granted divorce in 1668. He married (2) Dorothy, widow of William Soames of Scituate, Massachusetts. Family members live in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, South Carolina, Texas, and elsewhere.
