The book The Daughter of a Preacher Man written by Lanelle Perry gives us a snapshot and provocative look into the family life of a preacher's kid (PK). The author takes us on an arduous journey into the interior walls of family life for a PK. She shows the confusing, inflexible and unyielding disciplines of strong pastoral doctrine. As the writer traveled the bivouac of life, she catalogues her jaunt with excellent precision. She gathers the ingredients of each experience, educates herself and gains spiritual renewal. She gathers the knowledge, understanding and wisdom, through life experiences and godly intervention, that life can be a difficult beast. Lanelle Perry penetrates our mind and spirit with the loving kindness attained through the pursuit of life. We will profit from her profile as she illuminates the landscape of a holy and loving family. Lanelle Perry brings a writing style that delivers a lucid view of the moralistic conflict faced in growing up under the authority of a Preacher Man. Lanelle Perry, a daughter of nobility, slowly unfolds the life of a PK to the reader and gives us a renewed awakening to the fact that God is the ultimate authority over all things in heaven and also beneath heaven Lanelle Perry encourages us to be "stewards of our young." The author's growth, love, dedication, and forgiveness are conclusive proof that "God is love." For those PKs, who have not forgiven their parents, this book will help you to find the way to do so. To those outsiders that wonder about the attributes of PKs, there is no greater love than the gifts that God loans us, and one day will return to God. I encourage you to bring the family together for a quiet reading of TheDaughter of a Preacher Man. Gregory V. Jones, Jr. PhD

A pious young woman grapples with a loss of memory—and of faith—in this sharp, witty novel by the author of 1984 and Animal Farm. Dorothy is the daughter of the Reverend Charles Hare, rector of St. Athelstan’s in Depression-era Suffolk, England. She serves as a dutiful housekeeper, performs good works, cultivates good thoughts—and pricks her arm with a pin when a bad thought arises. But even as she toils away making costumes for the church school play, she is haunted by thoughts about the poverty that surrounds her and the debts she can’t afford to pay. Then, suddenly, she finds herself in London. She is wearing silk stockings, has money in her pocket, and cannot remember her own name . . . This novel of a woman thrust into a strange journey, struck by amnesia and grappling with questions of faith and identity in a world of unemployment and hunger, is a masterful work of satire by one of the great writers of the twentieth century.

This textbook is a development of Financial Reporting by Alexander and Britton, and is designed to meet the emerging demand for coverage of international accounting standards (IASs) and the globalization of accounting in advanced courses. It is predicated on an IAS framework but the European directives, especially as regards detailed formats having no direct equivalent in IASs, are discussed in detail. The European context and, in the case of important markets, the national context is recognised and contrasted with the international approach. Important non-European influences, especially those from the US, are also included in order to provide a genuinely wide-ranging appreciation of the implications of accounting internationalism. Part 1 contains coverage of the theoretical underpinnings of financial reporting in an international context. It also describes the international, European and domestic regulatory framework of accounting. Part 2 starts by analysing the legal background of the concept of capital and profit.
