Learn how to perform project management according to international standards of compliance using capability assessment processes. This book compares and contrasts the approach to project management using ISO 21500 against the more direct ISO 33000 Capability Assessment. It shows how to assess projects adequately for process improvement or how well an organization performs against a standard, measurable framework. Using ISO 21500 as the project management reference point and ISO 15504/33000 as the capability assessment reference, the book shows you how to assess whether your projects are being run according to a specific capability level or support them to reach higher levels of capability.

The eagerly-awaited Third Edition of the hugely successful International Human Resource Management succeeds in maintaining the academic rigour and critical focus that have established its reputation as the most authoritative and cutting-edge text in the field. Positioning itself firmly within the 'globalized' environment, it provides wide-ranging and truly international coverage driven by the expertise of a writing team comprised of internationally renowned experts. New to the Third Edition: - Completely revised and restructured to better match international HRM courses. - New chapters include: social responsibility, sustainability and diversity, comparative HRM and approaches to IHRM. - 'Country-focus' boxed feature comparing and contrasting issues in different countries. - Further international examples and case studies. - Each chapter ends with stimulating discussion questions and self-assessment questions to encourage students to test their knowledge. - A companion website with instructors' manual and free full-text journal articles and additional case material for students. `The Third Edition of International Human Resource Management is a comprehensive guide for today’s IHRM researchers, students, and practitioners. It covers not only traditional IHRM topics such as expatriate selection and the implications of cultural differences, but also advances our understanding of topics that have gained importance recently such as strategic IHRM and international total rewards programs. As a text, it has the advantage of including chapters covering each of the major topics in IHRM carefully chosen and orchestrated by an excellent editing team and written by leading specialists in each topic. The inclusion of discussion questions for students and instructor materials makes it a student-friendly instructional resource' - Mark F. A topic of utmost importance in civil engineering is finding optimal solutions throughout the life cycle of buildings and infrastructural objects, including their design, manufacturing, use, and maintenance. Operational research, management science, and optimization methods provide a consistent and applicable groundwork for engineering decision-making. These topics have received the interest of researchers and, after a rigorous peer-review process, eight papers have been published in this Special Issue. The articles in this Printed Edition demonstrate how solutions in civil engineering, which bring economic, social, and environmental benefits, are obtained through a variety of methodologies and tools. Usually, decision-makers need to take into account not just a single criterion, but several different criteria and, therefore, multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) approaches have been suggested for application in five of the published papers; the rest of the papers apply other research methods. Most approaches suggested decision models under uncertainty, proposing hybrid MCDM methods in combination with fuzzy or rough set theory, as well as D-numbers. The application areas of the proposed MCDM techniques mainly cover production/manufacturing engineering, logistics and transportation, and construction engineering and management. We hope that a summary of the Special Issue as provided here will encourage a detailed analysis of the papers included in the Printed Edition.

Project Pre-Check FastPath - The Project Managers Guide to Stakeholder Management The original Project Pre-Check was published in 2007 as a planning, governance and project assessment practice for project stakeholders. It provides the structure, roadmaps and resources to leverage proven best practices and ensure project success for all stakeholders. Since that time, project managers have asked for a version of Project Pre-Check that addresses their specific needs. They recognized that stakeholder management is an often overlooked yet critical part of the project managers tool kit. They were looking for examples of other projects and circumstances and tips and techniques to help them shape their stakeholder groups into effective guiding coalitions. This book, Project Pre-Check FastPath, is our response to that need.

This book contains the best papers of the First International Conference on Software and Data Technologies (ICSOFT 2006), organized by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Communication and Control (INSTICC) in cooperation with the Object Management Group (OMG). Hosted by the School of Business of the Polytechnic Institute of Setubal, the conference was sponsored by Enterprise Ireland and the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal. The purpose of ICSOFT 2006 was to bring together researchers and practitioners int- ested in information technology and software development. The conference tracks were “Software Engineering”, “Information Systems and Data Management”, “Programming Languages”, “Distributed and Parallel Systems” and “Knowledge Engineering.” Being crucial for the development of information systems, software and data te- nologies encompass a large number of research topics and applications: from imp- mentation-related issues to more abstract theoretical aspects of software engineering; from databases and data-warehouses to management information systems and kno- edge-base systems; next to that, distributed systems, pervasive computing, data quality and other related topics are included in the scope of this conference. ICSOFT included in its program a panel to discuss the future of software devel- ment, composed by six distinguished world-class researchers. Furthermore, the c- ference program was enriched by a tutorial and six keynote lectures. ICSOFT 2006 received 187 paper submissions from 39 countries in all continents.
