The earliest known ancestor was Reuben Bowen who appears to have settled in Virginia. He was the father of five children, one of whom was Jessie Bowen. Jessie owned 700 acres of land in Sunbright, Virginia and married Betty Stanley. They were the parents of four children. Descendants live in Virginia, Tennessee and other parts of the United States.
