I have no hope Of convey ing to your minds my own sense Of the magnitude Of our loss. Still less can I expect to elude the strictures of those who entertain what may, perhaps, be styled the popular view of the legitimate sphere Of the pulpit. But I am pressed with the feeling that I must, as a Pastor, in some way improve this dispensation thatwithout attempting a formal eulogy on Mr. \vebster, which would be in the highest degree presumptuous, I must here record my sense of the invaluable services he has rendered to our common country and our common Christianity, and so endeavour to turn the emotions of sorrow which fill our hearts, to some use ful account.
