This Autobiography was written at the insistence of a daughter who was curious about my life . Far from a dreadful childhood I laughed as I wrote it, - realizing it was ripe with the richness of the ever-cheery Cockney. Born in London opposite the Houses of Parliament I was the last of 16 children. Poverty and war; evacuation; my home destroyed; war work where the first jet engines were flown and refueling in flight invented. Seven brothers, my father, and my husband whod served aboard RMS Venus on those horrendous Russian Convoys in U-boat-infested waters, all had served King and Country. My husband never got over living at fever pitch. We emigrated to Canada and New Zealand, finally to California. Settled now in the Santa Clarita Valley with my second husband, I have been a docent for 26 years at the Los Angeles Zoo touring school children; visiting schools to show slides on the plight of endangered animals; reading to children at a local school; attending college classes and ongoing programs at the local Senior Center. Our children and grandchildren live close by; 24 around the Christmas table keeps us all happily connected. Attending Tai Chi classes with my husband, I took up playing the piano four years ago. I keep busy singing with a Senior group, writing stories, knitting and crocheting. Together we have travelled much of the globe. I hope the reader will find parallels of his own. Life is never as bad as we think!

Is the pursuit of endless economic growth compatible with the deep reductions in greenhouse gas emissions required to avoid the worst extremes of climate change? In When Green Growth Is Not Enough, Anders Hayden analyzes the political battle between three competing approaches to this question and how it has played out in Canada and Britain. Defenders of the "business-as-usual" approach reject climate action as too costly and in conflict with economic growth, while downplaying the severity of climate change. Supporters of ecological modernization, or "green growth," on the other hand, aim to use technology and efficiency to delink economic expansion from emissions and find business opportunities through environmental action. While mainstream debate has focused on these two pro-growth models, Hayden pays particular attention to the struggles and limited inroads of a third, more radical perspective: the idea of sufficiency, which challenges the continued growth of production and consumption in the already-affluent global North and asks, how much is enough? Drawing on interviews, participation in climate-related events, and analysis of key documents, Hayden shows the role these paradigms have played in Britain, one of the world’s leaders in climate reform, and in Canada, a nation at the bottom of international climate change rankings. Rich in detail, When Green Growth Is Not Enough is a lively account of the theory and real-world politics of climate action.

Grandsons Jace, Jax, and Jude, who their sisters refer to as the Sex Alphabet Trio, are busy conducting promiscuous After-School-Specials with teen classmates. And with their more recent exploits, have now turned to Dru for informative sexual tidbits about the female persuasion, which doesn't please him. After all, he's barely managed to keep Juel and Jetta on his radar with young cowboys, Jeb and Chance's, growing affectionate advances, and the Two for One twin TV stars chasing his granddaughters about. Yet, Dru's left to wonder how me got in the mix of rearing five teen grandchildren, who have five other grandparents. Hell, he's still learning to parent his finger-biting, razor-edged, tooth-bearing, one-year-old, whose favorite word is 'no' or any cuss word she happens to hear and keep his fifty-seven-year-old wife in line! And speaking of his wife, the 'little things' that consistently happen to Jett are driving Dru insane! He cannot believe this one small woman utilizes her 'directionally dysfunctional' brain to find 'alternative directions', which she claims cause her to end up in the same place, which is where she wanted to be all along, and with their child in the car! The good Lord knows she can hardly navigate herself around the estate's circular driveway! And her appearance on the famous Hollywood Squares Celebrity Week was a massive fiasco! Dru got to witness his wife on national television as she appeared in the ostentatious middle square giving far more than detailed answers while toying with her 'quiz quarter', which she swears helped her get the answers right! Or seeing Jett and co-star, Cameron McGinley, during their explicit carnal and total climatic moment in the mystic 'mating chamber', to use the phrase loosely and in surround-sound, no less, which Dru knew nothing about, but watched along with all of Hollywood during its' premiere! And let's not forget the antics she pulls with her Mighty JETT Regime members, Karin, Charisse and Stacy! Yes, Sir Dru Simon knew his wife, whom he loves more than life, was a twit before he married her! But it's a freakin' wonder no man ever killed her! Now, that is something he would thoroughly love to experience; however, he isn't finished with her, yet! The Simon, Landon, Chase, and Savoy families are back and learning more new life lessons as the JETT Ranchettes relax and lounge away on ducky margaritas. You've got to check this out, people!

This particular case study is designed to explore the extent to which a teacher evaluation system is effective. It also addresses the challenge of measuring student achievement gains when the students in question are already at the high end of the scale, a different yet important—problem in an era when many concentrate on “low-hanging fruit” or students “on the bubble” between failure and marginal performance. By presenting a realworld case, various research methods for studying issues raised by the case, and the interchange among scholars engaged in this effort, this volume will allow educational policymakers and practitioners to decide if a proposed approach is compelling and relevant for their settings. Concurrently, a comparison of various research methods addressing a real school-based problem provides an important learning tool for the research community, and for those who study and make policy. We also believe that the case study and the research designs will be useful for those with responsibility for framing and funding a research agenda in education that utilizes strong research designs applied to topics that matter to student outcomes at all levels of the U.S. education system and at all levels of pupil performance. And finally, we hope that doctoral programs that seek to prepare the next generation of education researchers will find our approach helpful in their work.

After dark, everything changes . . . Step into the world of the Nightcreaure Novels. You may never step back out. (This collection contains Books 1-3) Blue Moon When darkness falls, another world comes alive . . . The summer I discovered the world was not black-and-white but a host of annoying shades of gray was the summer a lot more changed than my vision. Call me Jessie, or better yet Officer McQuade. On the night the truth began, our usually shy wolf population near my hometown of Miniwa, Wisconsin attacked. Circumstances led me to Professor Will Cadotte, an expert in Native American mythology, particularly of the Ojibwe. Tall, dark and gorgeous, he was also funny, smart and nearly as sarcastic as I am. I felt things when I looked at him. I wanted to keep feeling them longer than was healthy for a woman like me. I know what I am. Better off alone. We were getting nowhere until the arrival of Edward Mandenauer, a self-proclaimed werewolf hunter. Sure, I laughed. Then one of our dead bodies walked out of the morgue. After that . . . things got really strange. Hunter’s Moon Beneath a hunter’s moon blood turns from crimson to black . . . Once upon a time they called me Ms. Tyler, Leigh to my friends, a kindergarten teacher who dreamed of love, children and that cliché picket fence. Then my worst mistake came back and brutally took away everything I ever loved. Mistakes . . . they can haunt you. Until you make them stop. So I became a hunter, a Jager-Sucher. Specialty: Werewolves. Distractions can be deadly and Damien Fitzgerald, a drifter with a questionable past is the ultimate distraction. When I gave up love, I gave up sex. Damien makes me wonder if maybe, just maybe, that was a mistake. However, people who hang around me too long wind up dead, and I can’t live with any more souls on my conscience. Dark Moon As the moon goes dark, secrets come to light . . . The bronze nameplate on my desk reads Dr. Elise Hanover-Virologist. I’ve made it my mission to cure lycanthropy. My life depends on it. I am a werewolf too. I’ve been holed up in a secret Montana compound for . . . what year is it? Let’s just say it’s been a while. But when the compound blows sky high and the biggest, baddest, craziest werewolf of all escapes, I’m thrown together with FBI agent, Nic Franklin. Unfortunately, he’s the man whose heart I broke once upon a time, and he hasn’t forgotten, or forgiven, me yet. My boss, Edward Mandenauer, is just waiting for a reason to put a silver bullet in my brain and the way things are going, downhill at epic speed, he may have found the perfect excuse. The worst part? I love Nic again, or maybe I love him still, and a weakness like that is certain to get both of us killed. shifter romance collection, werewolf romance novels, women's fantasy fiction, paranormal romantic suspense, best paranormal romance series, paranormal romance books for adults, werewolf and shifter thriller
