The Forebears of the Lovell Family date back in European Tradition, Romance and History. Their first appearance in England was in the Army of the Conqueror, and is authenticated by the "Roll of Battle Abbey" founded by William to commemorate the victory by which he won the crown, and appear frequently thereafter in the pages of English History. Robert Lovell left England in 1635 and traveled with his family by boat under the leadership of the Rev. Joseph Hull. They arrived in Massachusetts Bay after forty-six days and anchored in Boston harbor on the 6th of May. He is believed by many genealogists to be the first Lovell in America.
