The editors and authors of this textbook introduce the relatively new subject of “academic and educational entrepreneurship” from a holistic viewpoint. Following a structured approach suitable for the classroom, the book opens with a concise introduction to the theories and schools of thoughts in the context of academic and educational entrepreneurship. It then reveals seven scientifically developed key aspects (including sustainability, internationalization, and cultural components) in order to be a successful academic and educational entrepreneur. After the theoretical background, the authors, who are the doyens of academic and educational entrepreneurship, share their insights and professional experiences with the readers by demonstrating the impact and relevance of the theoretical concepts to the actual entrepreneurial experience.

The last two decades increasingly have challenged the field of management by confronting it with rapidly growing levels of dynamism, inter-connectedness, and complexity. Systems-based management approaches, their promise already proven, offer great potentials for influencing and coping with this development. This collection of essays offers ideas and exemplary case studies from experts in systemic management, organiza-tional cybernetics, and system dynamics for meeting the challenges in so-cio-economic systems. This book was compiled to honor the academic achievement of Markus Schwaninger, a leading protagonist in developing the field of systemic management and organizational cybernetics. His stature in the field is demonstrated in the forewords by Raul Espejo and John Sterman. The efforts of 18 researchers and practitioners, all closely related to Markus Schwaninger, offer conceptual and empirical approaches that will allow managers and advanced students of the management profession to analyze, understand, and design intelligent organizations. The book weaves its content from both theory and practice and offers hints for improving a variety of organizations, both private and public, profit and non-profit, and large and small.

Innovation and entrepreneurship skills are more crucial today than ever, both for individuals embarking on new business ventures and for employers seeking to foster these abilities within their teams. However, teaching and learning these skills have always presented challenges. Some universities offer dedicated degrees or courses in these areas, while others integrate these topics across various programs. Regardless of the approach, teaching innovation and entrepreneurship remains difficult, as does conducting research in these fields. The courses and modules are often heavily theoretical and may not provide the practical skills needed, nor effectively inspire students to become innovators or entrepreneurs. Nevertheless, promising work is being done globally to address these challenges, and this annual competition aims to showcase such efforts. This year, the 10th Teaching Innovation and Entrepreneurship Excellence Awards reflects the innovative practices implemented worldwide. Out of 21 initial submissions, 8 participants were invited to provide a full case history detailing their initiatives. The case histories covered a wide range of topics, making it a challenging task for the review panel to select the most compelling, creative, and innovative entries for the final shortlist published in this anthology. Eight authors or teams were invited to present their work at the European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, supported by CESI, Paris-Nanterre University in France. The specific topics covered by these presentations can be found on the Contents page of this book. I extend my gratitude to all contributors for their outstanding efforts in developing new and engaging methods for teaching Innovation and Entrepreneurship. I also want to thank the panel of reviewers and expert judges for their invaluable contributions.
