Matt Zeigler's College Football Schemes and Techniques-Offensive Field Guide explores offensive and special teams methods utilized on the collegiate level. Coaches, players and fans can learn the schemes and techniques of some of the best programs in college football. Coaches with experience in every major conference are the primary sources for CFST, including the SEC, ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Big East and PAC 12, plus the NFL and CFL. Offensively, CFST features North Carolina's Larry Fedora's no-huddle up-tempo spread attack; and Garrick McGee's multiple offense and UAB practice/QB development standards. As well as Joe Pendry's run blocking basics. Former Pac 12 and current Alabama Offensive Coordinator Doug Nussmeier's quarterback development techniques and basic play-action passing scheme are included in the author's 'offensive package.' Another chapter breaks-down situational football preparation on offense/special teams that enabled Gene Chizik and Auburn to win the 2010 National Championship. Florida State QBs Coach Dameyune Craig's methods for reading defenses and finding 'dead spots' in Cover 2 Zone are also examined. For programs on any level that have suffered through years of underachievement, CFST provides the rebuilding methods of Vanderbilt Head Coach James Franklin. Franklin had previous experience in the ACC, Big 12 and NFL as an offensive assistant or coordinator. In just his first season at Vanderbilt in 2011, he built the Commodores into a bowl team for only the fifth time in 123 years!

Three Block War: Darkside chronicles 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and 2004. ‘Chopped’ from the full-length Three Block War: U.S. Marines in Iraq, Darkside first recounts 3/4’s assault to Baghdad in 2003; which began with battles against Iraq’s 51st Mechanized Division at Basrah. The Three-four, also known as ‘Darkside,’ then engaged Republican Guard formations and asymmetric threats in central Iraq at Diwaniyah and al-Kut. Before 1st Marine Division entered Baghdad, Darkside breached a minefield and braved artillery fire during the Diyala River crossing that allowed access to the capital. When the battalion, remaining under command of Lt. Col. B.P. McCoy, returned to Iraq in the spring of 2004, it was assigned to the Haditha Dam area. While it secured Haditha with small-unit patrols, 3/4 also saw combat action during the first battle of Fallujah in April 2004; and north of Fallujah at ‘Bad’ Kharma.

Over The Side: Black Marines of WWII is a story of men who not only overcame the challenge of the Marine Corps and war, but perils of racism as well. Their saga began at Montford Point in North Carolina, where combat units were forged that served in the Marines’ gallant amphibious assault campaigns of World War II’s Pacific Theater. From bloody beaches and treacherous jungles of battlegrounds at Saipan, Tinian, Guam, Peleliu, Iwo Jima and Okinawa they earned the valor of United States Marines.

From the former executive director of the Pro Football Hall of Fame comes a sweeping and lively history of the National Football League, timed to coincide with the NFL’s 100th anniversary season. “I can think of no one better qualified—or more enthusiastic—to chronicle the National Football League’s century-long history than Joe Horrigan.”—Marv Levy, Hall of Fame NFL coach The NFL has come a long way from its founding in Canton, Ohio, in 1920. In the hundred years since that fateful day, football has become America’s most popular and lucrative professional sport. The former scrappy upstart league that struggled to stay afloat has survived a host of challenges—the Great Depression and World War II, controversies and scandals, battles over labor rights and competition from rival leagues—to produce American icons like Vince Lombardi, Joe Montana, and Tom Brady. It is an extraordinary and entertaining history that could be told only by Joe Horrigan, former executive director of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and perhaps the greatest living historian of the NFL, by drawing upon decades of NFL archives. Compelling, eye-opening, and authoritative, NFL Century is a must-read for NFL fans and anyone who loves the game of football. Advance praise for NFL Century “Joe Horrigan takes the reader on a delightful tour of the seminal moments of the NFL in the past one hundred years—the players, owners, coaches, executives, and historical events that made the game of football the most popular in America. It’s a wonderful walk down memory lane for any football fan, young or old.”—Michael Lombardi, author of Gridiron Genius “There is no one—and I mean no one—who knows more about the history of the NFL than Joe Horrigan, the heart and soul of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. As the gold standard of sports leagues celebrates its one hundredth season, it’s appropriate that the gold standard of sports historians has written NFL Century, an entertaining and educational journey.”—Gary Myers, New York Times bestselling author of Brady vs Manning
